They actually remind me of the red and white stockings my brother and I had in the late 70s/early 80s. I'll have to ask my mom if those were crochet and if my grandmother made them. I went out and bought the mag yesterday for the sole purpose of trying to make one (or more!) of these. My crochet skills are pretty rudimentary, but I'm hopeful.
