Hey all! Sorry for my silence – I just handed in my last paper of the school year less than an hour ago, so as …
big changes!
I made a big switch yesterday … it’s Linux, TAKE 2!

I tried Kubuntu on my last computer, shortly before its demise. The demise wasn’t due to the Linux. It had a number of serious problems in succession, and after I wiped the hard drive it was working okay for a little while, then it had some major hardware failure that meant it couldn’t get power anymore. I backed everything up, started shopping for a new machine, and by the time the old guy died, I was ready to buy a new one. I miss my old one. I like the new one. But I still miss the old one. I did well for me.
At any rate, Windows Vista has been an interesting experiment, and I don’t totally hate it like most people seem to. I just get inordinately angry about things like not EVER being able to get rid of Internet Explorer, and how the first thing I do when I get a new computer is delete all the shit I don’t want… I mean, I didn’t get this 120GB hard drive so it could be 50% full of icons and startups for America Online, right?!?!! So I partitioned off a good chunk of it last night and installed Kubuntu. So far Kubuntu and I are getting along famously. Sure, we’ve had our ups and downs in the last 18 or so hours, including me, on the verge of tears, screaming “I THOUGHT THIS SHIT WAS JUST SUPPOSED TO WORK AND THAT’S WHY LINUX IS SO FUCKING GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!” Thanks to some seriously needed help, so far so good.
I’m also using the FLOCK browser, which a fork of Firefox with exciting blogging and picture tools. I have a big crush on it. My free tech support tells me that Flock is in Windows and Mac versions, too. Why had I never heard of this before?!?!!
