naknioh screw it this clearly isn’t going to happen

So anyone up on their knitting blogs (what an amazing thing to be *up* on. I should be up on my school reading the way I'm up on knitting, but hey - knitting is just so much fuzzier.) knows that this nakniswemo event is going on - like nanowrimo, where all those crazy people try to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. But this is nakniswemo and you try to knit a 50,000 stitch sweater in the month of November. Somehow I got it in my head that I should do this, and that I should knit raspy for it since I already had the yarn and the pattern, and since it involves long expanses of stockinette stitch so I could knit while reading. (SORRY for the ravelry link for those of you who can't view it - the pattern is in this book but I couldn't find specs for raspy on the rowan website or anything.) I thought it would be good practice for knitting monogamy. I'm only planning on one knit holiday gift that I've already made substantial progress on, so I figured it could sit out the month of November. Anyway, I don't know how people do this. Honestly, how much knitting time does your average knitblogger have in a day? Because I'd say I average about an hour - on some days I'm able to knit and knit and knit while reading for hours on end, and this is great. Then there are other days where I just can't sit down and by the time I get to I'm too exhausted to move my hands. Anyway, it's now November 12, so I should be nearly halfway with that knitting (or really just halfway, since the end of the month would ideally be dedicated to washing and seaming) - so that would mean either a front or a back and a sleeve. Instead, I have this to show you:

Let me tell you, it's hard to photograph dark blue cotton yarn when you're on several gray Chicago days in a row... But the color of the yarn didn't come out too bad in that shot. And yeah, that's maybe about 2/3 of the front/back (they're the same). I'm guessing, since we're headed into the end of the quarter here and my knitting time is going to get taken over by PANIC TIME, that this sweater thing may not happen. But I'm holding out hope - I have a plane trip to Houston (not like a flight to Yemen or anything, but still) coming up and substantial family-holiday-hang-out-time that could potentially involve knitting, so I haven't thrown the towel in yet.

It helps that this sweater is fun to knit so far, though. (I'm sure I'll be done with stockinette stitch for a while by the time it's done, though.) Dropping those stitches sure is fun, though.

In the meantime, when I'm not knitting my raspy sweater I'm lusting after other things I'd like to knit on ravelry, and planning what I will do with some yarns that have been languishing in my stash for quite some time... So although I'm a monogamous knitter at the moment, I apparently have a straying eye. So to speak.
