So you guys may have heard, Chicago got a little snow?! The U of C (where I go to school!) closed for TWO DAYS. People, that is pretty much unprecedented. I mean, maybe they closed for other historic Chicago blizzards, but I'm curious to hear some statistics on that. As a result of this there hasn't been a whole lot to do besides walk around taking pictures, watching snow fall, drinking tea, knitting, and watching netflix. So basically I'm in heaven.
(That's not our car - it's just one in the neighborhood that was attractively buried!)
The cats are of course completely unaware of the fact that there's a blizzard.
In knitting news, did I tell you guys that I finished some socks?
The pattern is Minty's Anastasia socks, and I used some Claudia's hand paints that Specs sent to me a while back. Of course, it turns out I'm not a SUPER careful reader of patterns and I omitted the round of knitting that is supposed to be between eyelet rounds, so my spirals are steeper than they should be. It's no big thing. That kind of thing is why I don't really volunteer to do a whole lot of test knitting... Anyway, I'm just happy to have some newly finished socks. I have a few more FOs to post about, but I'm already starting to think about some new projects (so many forthcoming babies!) and hoping to finish up some old ones (argyle vest, anyone?). What are you guys working on lately?

I wonder if U of C closed for the Great Chicago Fire? I mean, I’d assume so, but you never know. Schools can be finicky like that.
Nope – the U of C opened 20 years after the fire! Also, the fire didn’t make it as far south as Hyde Park, which means we have some of the oldest buildings in the city down here.
Well we definitely didn’t get snow like that in Northeast Ohio, just a ton of ice. But our local university closed both Tuesday and Wednesday which hasn’t happened at least since my husband started working there in 2006. I would say they average only one closing per school year. I always joke that it takes god calling the university president for them to even consider a closing.
Your kitties have great eyes. We’ve had a ton of snow here too, at times it feels cozy and then I get wracked with cabin fever. I’m working on a pair of fingerless mitts right now.
all your snow pictures are fabulous.
aha! I thought I recognized that yarn!
I wish we had more snow right now. Temps came up above freezing so all we’ve got is gross, freezing rain. Boo.
Great socks, Lauren! They look especially good with your couch
I’ve gotten started on Mandy’s elephant purse, and it’s going really well. I’m excited for our next meet-up.
