narcissism, and other things that hold up my studying

So I've joined this 365 Days project on flickr. The idea is to take a self-portrait every day for a year and post it to this group. There's a big group that tons and tons of people are in, and then there's the knitty-crafty one, which I am really enjoying because it is smaller, with the idea of being a smaller, more focused community. The photos don't have to be ABOUT YOU in some deep, special way. It just has to be a picture you took that day, and some part of you must be in it. Sometimes I just have a hand or a foot. I'm trying to use this project to learn to take better pictures, and make sure I take at least one little moment for creativity each day. So far I'm enjoying it, but hey, I'm only 8 days in, so we'll see how I'm feeling about this in a month or so. Here's my favorite shot so far:

Those are the lemons I'm currently working on preserving. In some very dramatic sunlight. Usually my pictures say, "here's what I did today." I like that.

Creative project number two (that is not knitting) is Project Spectrum 3! This one isn't a knitalong, but sort of an extended study on color. If you click the link you'll see that this year's edition is organized around the elements. We're currently in "fire" - red, pink, orange, yellow, etc. I'm a big fan of these sorts of colors. I wear them all a lot, except for yellow, which makes me look like I have tuberculosis. Again, carrying my digital camera around constantly and thinking about this project has made me look at the world in terms of colors - an interesting new perspective for me. It's just nice to get my mind out of the constant "panic about school, panic about school, panic about school" loop in which it usually operates.

And now, back to school work. And to contemplate a new knitting project.
