I'm still in secret gift-crafting mode (it's nothing huge; I'm just slow as hell now for some reason) so I have some visual inspiration and swap bounty to share with you all. First up, the swap! I little while back I knit these mittens (that probably look familiar) for Phoe in exchange for a superbright inspira cowl that she had knit. My cowl is in my hot little hands now and I couldn't love it more! Fortunately it's still around 45-50 degrees in Chicago now (although we're supposed to jump up to 90 later this week?! Yuck. I need transition.) so it may even get a bit of wear before summer starts.
As far as visual inspiration goes, the other day when walking home from my run in the park I noticed a some neat little fences that, although I'd passed by the hundreds of times before, I had never really seen before. The designs got me thinking about colorwork mittens again (surprise, surprise) so I think I'll put some of my stash to use and get working on a new design soon. Finally!

Besides the usual crafting and reading and working, I seem to be spending a lot of this weekend eating. The menu above is from a superfancy meal that Peto made for some friends of ours last night. This afternoon we're headed up to a bbq featuring homemade sausage. Yum! What are you guys to up to this weekend?
I think I can make out Gin & Tonic on that menu! Sounds like a good start to a long weekend! We had ours last weekend (in honour of Queen Victoria’s birthday), lots of muddled cocktails to pretend it’s actually spring/summer… Enjoy the BBQ!
Love your blog. Just came from Allison’s interview with you on her site.looks like you are a HARDCORE knittier…..great images , love your color strand work.
I work the weekend program at a hospital in chicago area. BUT I have monday, Memorial Day off. Just woke up around 230……ribs will be made by Fireman tonight. And some frozen drinks with etoh….on my screened porch…
Hurrah! I’m so glad the brightness doesn’t bother you. It’s *vibrant*. Hope you had a lovely weekend.
